Responsibilities
- Design and implement quantum algorithms for optimization and simulation problems
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to validate quantum circuits on IBM and Rigetti systems
- Develop error mitigation techniques for NISQ-era quantum processors
- Lead research initiatives in quantum machine learning applications
- Secure $500K+ in annual research grants from NSF and DARPA
- Publish 4+ peer-reviewed papers in top-tier quantum journals
- Mentor 2-3 junior researchers through quarterly technical workshops
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of hands-on quantum algorithm development experience
- Expertise in Qiskit, Cirq, or PennyLane frameworks
- Published research in Nature/Science quantum computing papers
- Proficiency in Python, C++, and quantum circuit optimization
- Experience with quantum error correction protocols (surface codes, LDPC)
- Demonstrated ability to secure federal research grants
- Strong background in linear algebra and quantum information theory
