Responsibilities
- Shipment Coordination: Manage the end-to-end shipping process, including scheduling carriers, preparing bills of lading, and tracking cargo from origin to destination.
- Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate inventory counts prior to shipping.
- Documentation: Verify and process all shipping documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs paperwork, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
- Carrier Communication: Liaise with third-party logistics providers and freight carriers to resolve delays, schedule pickups, and negotiate rates where necessary.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot shipping issues immediately to minimize downtime and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate records in our transportation management system (TMS) and prepare weekly shipping reports for management.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or a related supply chain role.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with TMS software (e.g., Oracle, Manhattan, or similar) is preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams and external vendors.
- Organization: Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a warehouse environment.
