Responsibilities
- Shipment Management: Coordinate the scheduling and dispatching of freight carriers, ensuring all loads are loaded and shipped according to customer specifications and timelines.
- Documentation: Prepare and verify accurate shipping documents, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists, ensuring compliance with domestic and international regulations.
- Carrier Relations: Maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and freight carriers to negotiate rates and resolve delivery disputes.
- Inventory Tracking: Monitor shipment status in real-time to provide customers with accurate tracking information and updates.
- Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, delays, or damaged goods claims efficiently.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline shipping processes and reduce costs within the department.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or a related shipping role.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Logistics or Business preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, or similar TMS) is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and clients.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with DOT regulations and freight classification (NMFC) is a plus.
