Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule inbound and outbound freight shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOL), commercial invoices, and packing lists.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, customers, and internal teams to resolve shipping discrepancies and delays.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments and inventory levels using our Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Analyze shipping costs and negotiate rates with third-party logistics providers to optimize budgets.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal shipping regulations.
- Train and mentor junior logistics staff on proper shipping procedures and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding.
- Proficiency with shipping software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel is a must).
- Strong understanding of Incoterms, freight forwarding processes, and DOT regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
