Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely delivery and optimal carrier utilization.
- Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists, ensuring full compliance with DOT and international regulations.
- Monitor shipment status in real-time, resolving any delays or logistical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Manage relationships with third-party carriers and freight forwarders to negotiate rates and secure capacity.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and reconcile shipping logs with warehouse data.
- Assist in the implementation of logistics software solutions to streamline operations and track KPIs.
- Conduct regular safety audits and ensure adherence to all safety protocols and company policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in shipping, freight forwarding, or logistics coordination.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, hazardous materials handling, and shipping best practices.
- Proficient in logistics software (e.g., Oracle Transportation Management, SAP) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to negotiate effectively with carriers.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
