We're seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Coordinator to manage inbound/outbound shipments across our Long Beach operations. This role is critical to ensuring seamless cargo flow between ports, warehouses, and clients while maintaining compliance with international trade regulations. You'll collaborate with carriers, customs brokers, and internal teams to optimize routes, reduce costs, and enhance delivery reliability. Responsibilities
- Coordinate full-cycle shipping operations from booking to delivery, including documentation preparation (BOLs, customs forms, invoices)
- Optimize container loading plans and negotiate freight rates with ocean carriers and trucking companies
- Track shipments in real-time using TMS software (e.g., Oracle Transportation Management) and proactively resolve delays
- Ensure compliance with CBP regulations, FMC filings, and IMO Dangerous Goods requirements
- Manage inventory control through WMS systems and reconcile discrepancies weekly
- Collaborate with warehouse teams to prioritize dock schedules and minimize demurrage charges
- Generate monthly KPI reports on transit times, cost efficiency, and carrier performance
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in freight forwarding, ocean shipping, or logistics coordination
- Proficiency with TMS/WMS platforms (SAP, JDA, or Manhattan Active preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Incoterms, customs brokerage procedures, and port operations
- Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot shipment disruptions
- Valid US Customs Broker License or willingness to obtain within 6 months
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
- Ability to work rotating shifts to align with vessel/port operating hours
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field
